My monsters

I have two cats.  I adore them.  Sometimes I call them my "monsters".
Mr. Nugget is a Bengal (nearly 5 years old) and Dasha is a Siberian (also nearly 5 years old).  Rather obviously, Mr. Nugget is a male. Dasha is a female. These two fur-covered babies could not be more different.

Nugget is ornery, curious. He can open cabinets and tries to open closed doors using the door knobs. He will get into the pantry, find his treat, and bring the container (or bag) to me to give him some. He gets in trouble. He is endlessly inquisitive and seems to have the mind of an engineer. He wants to know how everything works, and will get his paws involved to attempt to figure things out.  Nugget does not like people food.  His only vices in that area are butter and pepper (go figure!)  He likes to lick plastic wrap and wants to eat curling ribbon. (He is convinced it is a major food group for kitties.  We argue about this every Christmas, and most of the other times I am wrapping gifts!) Having Nugget in my life is like having a perpetual 4 year-old boy. He is absolutely delightful!

Dasha is a diva. She is gorgeous and high maintenance. She likes her day to go her way. She does not hesitate to express her displeasure (through growls and occasional hisses). She is my shadow (though Nugget claims me as his property, so there are often disagreements among them about who can be in a room with me at any given time.)  Dasha is relatively peaceful and happy to lead a quiet life. She enjoys sitting on my lap on the front porch rocker, just watching the world go by. She is a great bug catcher, and finds them rather tasty (ugh!)  Then again, Dasha finds most anything tasty. She likes her food, and my food, and just about any food!  She assumes if it is left unattended it was meant for her, and will sometimes even attempt to take a bite or at least check out my food while I am trying to eat it! She loves to eat her own popsicles and fudgesicles.  She sleeps at the head of my bed nearly every night.  Dasha "chatters", making little chirps as she enters a room, jumps up beside me or others. She seems to want to converse at times.  She likes to play with crinkly, multi-colored "fluff" balls, and will chase them and retrieve them.  She sometimes even catches them!  I am the only person Dasha will kiss.  She is an absolute dear and gem!

You'll be hearing about these monsters a lot. They are a regular part of my ordained days, and I am so thankful they are!

Have a blessed day.
Deb
